Our recent Staff In-Service Day was filled with joy, gratitude, and unforgettable moments as we celebrated the incredible team at STARC of Louisiana with a trip to the Audubon Zoo!
As part of the day, we held a photo contest to capture the most beautiful animal moment—and this touching photo was selected by our STARC board.
It features CJ and Laura, one of our extraordinary team members. Laura is blind, and in this sweet moment, CJ is describing the scene of the orangutans to her with care and detail. The image captures more than just animals—it reflects the compassion, connection, and teamwork that define who we are at STARC.
We’re excited to share that CJ and Laura also won a gift card as a token of appreciation for their meaningful photo and the story it tells.

From the moment she stepped in, Terri led with purpose:
🔹 Kicked off the day with a State of the Agency briefing
🔹 Explored the Crime Lab and geared up with SWAT
🔹 Took to the water with the Marine Division
🔹 Inspired our current academy class in training
She didn’t just observe — she led, asked thoughtful questions, connected deeply, and brought light to every room she entered.
At STARC, our mission is to create meaningful opportunities for people to grow, lead, and shine — and Sheriff for a Day is one of the most beautiful ways we see that in action. Sheriff Smith has hosted this event for five years and says it’s one of the most rewarding days of his year.
Sheriff Hingle, thank you for reminding us what true leadership looks like — bold, joyful, and full of heart. You made this day unforgettable.

For the third year in a row, St. Tammany Parish Fire District #1 and Firefighters Local 2455 have gone above and beyond in raising awareness, promoting acceptance, and supporting the work we do at STARC of Louisiana. St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 @SlidellFirefightersLocal2455
Their annual campaign — wrapping a vehicle in support of autism acceptance and inviting the community to sign it with a donation — raised an incredible $3,200 this year! These contributions directly support STARC’s mission of creating meaningful opportunities and building a more inclusive community for all.
We’re so thankful for this continued partnership and the generosity of everyone who participated. 💛

We were able to bring our 200 employees at STARC of Louisiana, Inc. to the Audoben zoo for staff appreciation and had a great day of team building and a lunch/program in the tea room. What an incredible evening we had at Patton’s in Slidell for our STARC Art Night, hosted in partnership with the St. Tammany Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours and proudly sponsored by In-Telecom
This special event not only brought our community together for networking and connection, but it also gave our amazing STARC Artists the spotlight they deserve. Guests had the chance to experience the talent and creativity of our artists firsthand, with beautiful works on display — and many finding new homes!
